I bought some luscious Koigu yarn and a couple yards of Amy Butler fabric. Can't wait to have time for projects. Also, here are some picts from my new job. I love being among all the beautiful flowers!!! It's uplifting.

better late than never

Last weekend I went to see Karen Gelardi's new work at the Front Room Gallery in So Po. Great work in response to the Saco Bog...fabric constructed sticks that have different colors and prints and also triangular works on paper that really blew me away. I'm not usually one for the triangle shape, but there is so much depth and color play that I was totally druling and wanting to buy them all. To walk into the room was a really fun and amazing experience.




So....otherwise....summer is officially here. The house hunt continues...

Super Simple Sunday

I haven't gotten any work done in my studio today and I don't even feel guilty. It's been a domestic day so far and there's something really gratifying about making a house clean and cooking a tastey meal. yummmm....indian food. It's really foggy outside, so being in the kitchen feels just right. I'll probably get to my knitting this afternoon - there's a crap loud of projects on the horizon and it's time to get things fired up on the needles.
I bought some plants at the farmer's market the other day and am looking forward to some warmer, sunny weather to help the plants along. I've got to get some more potting soil for my pots and then I'm ready to roll.
House hunting continues - I can't wait until I can let my little miles outside. He's really itching to roam around and I'm tired of holding him back from his dreams!

School's out...at least my major hort classes are done with till fall. I'm taking Financial Accouting this summer...whoopie...very exciting. And...just working to make the dinero so that my man and I can land ourselves a cute yellow house.

my orderly life

Brioche (not the bread - the stitch)....a new sweater i'm working on that has to be finished in a week or so! the yarn is lovely and it's fun to be using a color again (the last sweater was white- see photos).

plants & textiles

I've been working on a paper for school on this topic. It's a no wonder why I can't love one without the other...they are intricately woven together in history and continue to be entwined. I love plants...they are amazing...oh yes indeedie. (that's a cotton plant btw)

happenings

School, photostyling and knitting are consuming me. Completely. The summer shoot is coming up, so I've got to hurry up and finish my sweater. If I was a real designer I would have had to submit my design & sweater weeks ago. Lucky for me, I guess, although wouldn't I be so happy if I was done already?

One thing I'm truly psyched about (obviously) is my trip to Japan...is it March yet?
Itinerary: gardens, sake with my Muffin, and hitting the 100 yen stores.
oh yeah.

It's only been forever since my last/first post. Promise to do better this year. Just an update on madder megazine: it won't be in paper form. It's an e-zine! Even better because I won't have to worry about distribution and wasting all kinds of materials in the process. I'm excited for this adventure and hope the premiere issue will be ready by May. Till then...I've got lots of work to do.

Hello

Fort Nest, once a physical space on India Street in Portland, Maine is alive again, yet in digital form. It's cheaper this way.

Fort Nest will now be a home for my own work rather than what it was, a gallery for local artists. Now, it will be my very own gallery to show my knitting designs and projects, which I hope will soon evolve into paper form: Madder Megazine. I'm sure I'll squeeze lots of other juicy tidbits like photos of my cats, inspiration and...whatever else.
